FOUNDER

Getting to Know Nick: A Passionate Advocate of Electric Cars, Renewable Energy and Green Technology

My name is Nick and I've had a special interest in electric cars, renewable energy and green technology since I was a child. Unfortunately, I was born too early to pursue my true passions. Growing up in a cold house, I decided to pursue a career that would help people by building homes that were warm and dry.

After working in the building industry for over two decades, I successfully established my own construction business that specialized in building homes on extreme sites with very challenging designs and conditions (such as cliff sides). One day, I discovered hempcrete and was blown away by its unique attributes after conducting internal testing and reading peer-reviewed papers.

WHERE IT ALL STARTED

From Kitchen to Factory: The Journey of Creating Modular and Transportable Panels

The journey started with small-scale feasibility testing in my kitchen, with the main goal of creating modular and transportable panels that were financially viable. After a lot of initial testing and some rough estimates, I moved onto the factory floor to begin the next phase.

My first task was to create a panel. At the time, I had no idea that this would end up being one of the biggest challenges I would face. Despite the difficulties, I had the support of my friends and family, which gave me the courage to push forward.

Out of the 20 proprietary tools that were designed to help with the production of the panels, 10 of them failed miserably. I was able to break them down and use the materials to create new tools. Five of the tools needed full rebuilds, while the other five taught me valuable lessons about what works and what doesn't.

THE MILE STONES

Reaching Milestones and Facing Challenges in Building a Sustainable Future

Our team has achieved several significant milestones in our journey towards creating environmentally friendly buildings. We have poured into molds for the first time, flipped and lifted panels, and even transported them with ease. The biggest moment of all was when we were able to stand and lock a module in place.

However, our biggest challenge now is finding a community of people who share our vision and want to invest in quality and sustainable buildings. Even the best products need excellent marketing, and we want to ensure that people know about our solution. We are not compromising, but rather offering a better way to build for a brighter future.

We appreciate your support and would love for you to follow our progress and spread the word about our amazing product. Together, we can make a difference and provide people with better, warmer, and safer homes.

WHY WE USE THE MATERIALS WE USE?

H1.2 PINE FRAMING

Pine frames

The internal support structure of the panels uses SG8 H1.2 90x45 timber, timber like these have been used in 90% of buildings built in the last 100 years. This takes the structural load of the roof and complies with NZ 3604. The NZ national building standards.

HEMPCRETE

Hempcrete

The star of the show! You may have only just heard of the product but it's older than you think??? It's true we don’t know how long it lasts! The oldest sample we have is only 1500 years old, found in a cave in india. It absorbs Carbon dioxide when curing, fire resistant, Environmentally friendly, amazing thermal properties, strong, reliable, safe. “better”

LIME RENDERS

Lime renders

Both internal and external walls on the panels are rendered with lime render, these renders have been used for hundreds of years and have proven to last the test of time

WHY DO WE BUILD IN FACTORY?

# Price stability.

# quality control / product consistency.

# less down time due to weather.

# increase in productivity due to ability to use large equipment.

# faster due to prefabrication
